Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we are asked most often. If you cannot find your answer, you are welcome to call.

What can I expect during an eye examination?
A thorough check of your vision and the health of your eyes. We start with a vision test and measure any glasses prescription. We then examine the structures of the eye and measure the eye pressure to detect, for example, cataract and glaucoma as early as possible. The examination typically takes 30–60 minutes, and we explain each step along the way.
How do I know if I need cataract surgery?
Cataract develops slowly. Typical signs are gradually blurred vision, poorer night vision and colours that seem duller. When the symptoms start to affect your everyday life, an examination can determine whether surgery is relevant. During the operation the cloudy lens is replaced with an artificial one, which usually gives completely or partly better vision. Read more about cataract.
How often should I have my eyes examined?
If you have glaucoma or a chronic disease such as diabetes, you should be followed regularly by an eye doctor. If you have eye symptoms, it is also a good idea to be examined.
How do I book an appointment?
Call +45 86 12 78 24 Monday–Thursday 8–12 or Friday 10–12.
Is there a long waiting time?
We give appointments as quickly as possible and find a quick solution for acute problems. For cataract surgery there is a short waiting time for both the examination and the operation.
Does it cost anything?
Visits are covered by Danish public health insurance. You pay for a few treatments yourself, e.g. surgery for heavy eyelids for cosmetic reasons.
Can I drive after a treatment?
Only after cataract surgery must you not drive afterwards, so arrange transport home. After our other treatments you may drive when you feel your vision is normal. If you have had pupil-dilating drops, your vision may be blurred and you may be sensitive to light for a few hours.
